The systolic blood pressure is the measure of blood pressure while the heart is beating. Often, patients seeking to lower their sistolic blood pressure become confused, and seek improper treatments for their diastolic pressure. The diastolic pressure is the measure of blood pressure while the heart is at rest. To measure the sistolic blood pressure, a device called a sphygmomanometer is used. Many patients are familiar with this device, when getting their blood pressure checked, at routine visits to their physician. Systolic blood pressure keeps blood flowing through the vessel branches, so that cells get the oxygen and nutrients they require, and so waste matter can be removed. If the systolic pressure is too low, the blood is not able to carry oxygen and nutrients through the branches, and therefore is unable to remove waste.

If one’s systolic blood pressure is too high, or they are diagnosed with hypertension, the average sistolic blood pressure is above 140/90. Any systolic blood pressure over 140, is called isolated systolic hypertension. In patients with hypertension, the small blood vessels in the vital organs are most affected over time. Permanent damage can be done, with extreme consequence. Blood vessels that become scarred, hardened, and less elastic, are more likely to get blocked or rupture, and lead to organ damage and eventual failure. For these reasons it is important that everyone maintain control over their blood pressure, and utilize natural herb and vitamin supplements accordingly.
